Finding Joy in November

November 29, 2015

The cool crisp air arrived.  One day it is warm and beautiful, the next day is dull and dingy.

Welcome Autumn!                                                           You just never know what the new day will bring weather wise, but one thing that remains the same is work.  Monday morning comes and it is time to begin the work week once again.  I enjoy Mondays and returning to work and seeing everyone again.  Hearing about the exciting things that they did over the weekend and settling back into the routine that is truly never a routine.  When you work in a school, there is never a dull moment.  The challenges that the young adults face each day with the barrage of information, expectations and disappointments pull at my heart strings.  One or two have even broken my heart, for I can see the goodness in them, but they cannot.  I pray for the youth, that they will find their way and that God will watch over them and strengthen them to be able to say No to Satan.  Drugs, internet, the type of television shows and violent games are only one source that evil is penetrating into the souls of the youth.  Growing up, Sundays were always the day spent with God and family.  I remember going to church and Catechism (Sunday School) and then heading to my Grandmother's for Sunday dinner.  Along the way, we would make a stop at Mancini's bakery to get fresh Italian bread, rolls and other delicious things to enjoy during the week.  During the warmer months, there would be a huge flea market at the shopping center and we would stop in there to see  what bargains may be obtained.  Sometimes we did not go to my grandmother's because of my dad's work schedule at the steel mill, so my mom would make dinner at home.  Whether it was spaghetti or pot roast, they were always prepared with love.
The kitchen to me, is the most important room in the home.  It is the heart.  For in the kitchen is where you prepare meals for the family, do baking for the holidays and special occasions. It is a place where one can make something special for a family going through hard times.  It is where you can create delicious cookies, cakes, soups and stews.  The kitchen is also a place to relieve stress and anxiety and just let all your troubles and cares go.  There is something about kneading bread or pizza dough when you are upset that just relieves the tension.  The aromas of fresh baked cookies soothes and brings peace.  The smell of bread baking, brings back the memory of walking into the bakery knowing that satisfaction will soon be coming.  The whole house smells fabulously delicious. What I love about homemade and baking my own, is that I control the ingredients and the preparation of what I am cooking or baking.
Autumn, such a wonderful time to cook and bake.  Pumpkin, squash, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg are just some of the flavors and aromas of the Autumn season.  November brings all these flavors and so much more.  The kitchen begins to beat with the preparation of the holiday season. From hot and spicy chili to rich, creamy macaroni and cheese.  But the best thing of all, is the Thanksgiving feast.  I  love preparing the turkey and putting it into the oven early Thanksgiving morning. Then it is time to watch the  Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.  I still get excited when Santa comes down 34th street in the parade to start of the Christmas season. One day I will be in New York to see the parade.  This Sunday after Thanksgiving begins the Advent season.  During Advent we prepare for the arrival of the Savior.  We prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus.
I love November and this year Hallmark began the holiday movies on November 1st.  Even better was the new Peanuts movie that came into theaters on November 6th.  I grew up watching all the Peanuts holiday cartoons and the movie was not a disappointment.  It was such a good movie and for me,  a great way to start the holiday season.
Also in preparation for the holiday season is the rehearsing for the Christmas Cantata on December 13, 2015 at the Leesburg Community Church.  I have been having a fun time learning the songs.  Wash FM has started the holiday music on the radio and I listen to my Trans-Siberian Orchestra and all my other Christmas music on my IPod. Nothing like great music to bring on the holiday feelings.     November though brings the darkness outside which can make it harder to walk Lily.  However, Lily and I are determined to walk, even if it is around the block four or five times.  Have flashlight, mace and Lily, will be stepping!!!  Not to mention, boot camp party, Zumba with Michelle and my workout DVDs, make a great way to workout and stay healthy.  With the early dark nights, makes a great time to study my college courses and what I like to do best, watch movies cuddled on the couch with a big bowl of fresh popped popcorn.
As November is coming to a close, I begin to decorate my home in anticipation of the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ.  Christmas is just 26 days away and I love decorating, baking, singing carols and watching all the fun holiday specials and movies.  As I close out November, I want to just say that I am so very thankful for every moment that God has blessed me with.  For were He has brought me and for everything He has taught me and continues to teach me.
Happy Thanksgiving 2015!

October Reflections

October 4, 2015

October Reflections!

The month of October has arrived and I ask myself, where did August and September go?
August brought the uniting of my sister, Sharon and her partner Nora together in marriage.  They have been together for 35 years and now, by law was able to make it a legal marriage.  Though in their hearts and commitment to each other, have been married for a very long time. August also brought the teachers and students back to school.  I have to admit, that after being out of the school environment for almost four years, I forgot the craziness of the beginning of the school year.

September came in and before I realized it, time for the Color Run in Pittsburgh.  It was truly a great weekend spent with friends and family.  Saturday, September 19th started with Zumba for 45 minutes leading up to lining up and beginning the Color Run at 9:15 a.m.  It was truly a great experience once again.

After having one full month of school being opened, you would think that things would be calming down.  Instead, I realized just how unprepared I was for the onslaught of taking on the substitutes would be.  Many believe me to be overwhelmed...I am not.  All things will get done according to God's daily structure for me.  What I did let happen was the frustration of the lack of a procedural policy for the teachers to be set in place, get to me.  Apparently venting is a sign of being overwhelmed to some.  I am not now, nor have I been overwhelmed by taking on the aspect of the job of doing the substitutes, but that is not going to solve the problem.  What does solve the problem is taking action to correct what was missing.  So, that is what I am now in the process of doing.  Putting a structure in place will create a more organized way of keeping the situation under control.  What many do not realize is that in the high school, it is much easier to move the substitutes around account of the block scheduling.  It is not a hindrance, but a blessing.  So, if a sub does not show up or a teacher fails to follow procedure, you can juggle the subs you do have.  I do admit, that Friday, I was extremely frustrated by the lack of procedure and protocol than being called from doing my bookkeeping job and to find coverage for someone.  I was also letting others tell me how I was feeling, when in reality, they were far off base.  I finally acknowledged that the devil was attacking a weakness in my job environment, that I now see clearly.  Even though others meant well, the devil was using them to get to me.  Well, too bad, he has not and will not succeed. I prayed and asked Jesus to step in.  He did!   You see, you have to submit not only your personal life, but your professional life to Jesus. I learned that this week.  The devil can have no part of me, personally or professionally.    This is a new week,  a new month and by Wednesday, there will be procedures and proper protocol for the teachers, the substitutes and for myself in regards to requesting leave.  This is a great opportunity for me. By doing the leave requests and substitutes for the teachers, I am actually getting to know the teachers and substitutes better.  This helps me to develope a substitute list.   The devil is sneaky, and this is not the first time he has tried to interfere in my professional life since becoming the bookkeeper at Potomac Falls, however he will not get a third time.  I submit my professional career to Jesus and it is Jesus who will light my path and lead the way.  Not only am I submitting my professional and personal life to Jesus, but also my college life.
This week I begin Algebra for the next eight weeks.  I had to withdraw from it the first time I attempted, but this time, I will succeed.  I have many who are willing to help me and I will triumph.  Even if I pass with a C, I will still succeed.  Why, because I am surrendering everything I am and every aspect of my life to Jesus.  I am nothing without Him.  God has blessed me with many gifts, and with those gifts I will do His will. Over the next couple of months,  I will be compiling and restructuring my poetry book.  I will look into getting it published as I begin the second book I am working on.  This will be book of my photos of nature and butterflies.  I know it will make a awesome "table" book.  Much will be accomplished through Him who strengthens me.
I saw the movie "War Room" this weekend.  It was powerful and has made me truly think about where I am in my prayer life.  I am going to spend this next week in preparing a place that I can make my war "prayer" room.  I am going to make sure that there is a time that I spend with God and being in His word.  Also, there was a line in the movie that made me realize exactly what I am searching for in a man and why I have not been able to find the right one.  I am seeking a man who is chasing after Jesus.  A man who will be willing to pray with me, go to church with me and who will do God's will with me.
I can honestly and with a joyful heart say, that I am happy where I am right now and with the person that God is molding me to be.  I will not let the devil steal my joy.  He will not steal my joy at work, not at church, when I am doing my college work, and especially when I am sitting alone in my home. I rebuke thee Satan, you can not have my sons, my grandsons, my daughter-in-law nor any of my sisters or brother.  The war room will be built, for I am a WARRIOR for God and it is time for me to put the God's ARMOR ON!   My joy is in Jesus and in God, my father.
This weekend I spent time with a friend that I missed spending time with.  I truly appreciated being with this friend and just relaxing.  He relaxes me and helps me to see things in a new perspective, even when we do not talk about what is going on.  There is always something in our conversations that he will say, that opens my eyes and ears to what I truly need to hear.  In the words, I see where I failed and how I can change.
Today after two great church services, I came home and just chilled out.  I put on my "electric" fireplace, watched some Hallmark movies and Food Network.  It was pure joy!!
It is now 11;08 p.m. on a Sunday night, I will now prepare myself for the start of the work week, but I will also be setting the plan into motion as I once again prepare for the changes that God is doing in my life.  He opened my eyes and ears this weekend, I am watching and listening.   Most of all, I am praying.

So Awesome is He
Who died on Calvary.
So great is the One
For my soul He has won.
Long before I was born
He knew who I would be
Every moment in my life
He created just for me.
Your arms are always open
Welcoming me home.
My joy is in you, Jesus
For with You, I am never alone.
You watch over me
when I am sleeping.
You watch over me
When I am awake.
Everything in my life
Is Yours to give and take.
My joy is in you, Jesus
You put the smile upon my face
For You are always loving me
And giving me Your amazing grace.
So now as I prepare
To close my eyes in sleep
May you watch over me, and
My heart and soul You keep.
May my sleep be filled
With peaceful dreams
As I slumber on.
And may I wake refreshed and bright
Upon the early dawn.

Where has the Time Gone!

August 24, 2015
Where has the Time Gone!

So, I said I was going to be much more diligent about writing, yet it seems that before I know it a month has gone by.  When do I finally say "enough" and start to slow down.  Maybe I am afraid to slow down as if I do not want something to catch me.  Nah! That's not it.  I enjoy being active.  Whether it is working, working out, writing, doing college work or cooking, I love to be in motion.  Having my brain stimulated to continue learning and growing is part of who I am and have always been.
August opened its doors with beginning a new semester of college.  Microeconomics and Literature are the courses that I am in.  This is week four!  I am finding economics to be much more interesting this time around than I did back in 1982-83.  Maybe because I am older and have experienced different aspects of the work force, I find the dynamics not to be as boring as when I was 18.  Then there is Literature.  Learning about the writers and delving into their writing and discovering bits and pieces of myself in their work.  So fascinating how one can connect with individuals that wrote works of classic portion before even one was born or too young to read. This week will be a challenge for me in Literature account we have to watch the movie: In Cold Blood.  The story is written by Truman Capote based on true events.  This is not the kind of movie, nor book that I would read, so hence the challenge.
August also brought in the gearing up for school to begin.  It has been a quiet summer, even though my school hosted summer school.  I did not realize just how quiet until the staff began returning, but I am so happy to be having the hustle and bustle of the school.  It is invigorating and truly exciting.  The principal at my school is extremely creative in how to teach the staff of the new changes and going over the "old" boring stuff that must be done at the beginning of each new school year.  This year for seven days the teachers are competing in "The Amazing Potomac Falls Race".   Each day, there are creative activities that the teams have to do and perform.  The team that completes the challenges first win prizes.  Let me tell you, the business community stepped up and contributed some awesome prizes.  It has been a privilege to be able to participate and assist with this endeavor.
August also brought the union of my sister and her partner together in marriage.  After being together for 35 years to finally be united in lawful marriage has been an answer to their prayers.  I was honored to be the officiant of the union.  That is right folks, January of this year, through the Universal Life Church, I became ordained so that I could humbly honor the request of my sister to be the officiant.  She is always telling me that I missed my calling, I do not think that I have.
God uses people and their situations to help others.  When I was younger, though I was very much a believer and Christian, to completely devote my life, I was not ready.  There were many hardships, loses and joys that I not only had to go through, but continue to experience to strengthen me to do the work that He is guiding me to do.  That is why that even enjoying the constant business that is my life, I am learning to make the quiet times and regain the full focus on Jesus.  He is what fuels my day and He is the provider of the strength and wisdom to get me through.
I believe that everyone of us, minister to someone at sometime.  Many are not even aware that they are doing it.  Doing things to brighten someone's spirit when going through a low time, preparing meals for family and friends, baking cookies, calling just to say "hello" can be a way to minister to someone.  For when you are doing things out of love, you are ministering.  As I was going through the business of last week, it finally dawned on me what Jesus was teaching me.  It is not a matter of who you are living your life with, it is how you are living your life that matters.  Are you helping those that have hit rock bottom and need a helping hand?  Are you praying for those in your life that you do not like?  Are you asking God to change your heart?  For we are to love each and every person in this world.  The color of their skin, the country of their birth, whether they speak English or not. we should be loving them.  Caring for the poor and down trodden.  Feeding the hungry and providing water to those that are thirsty.  We should be clothing the naked and providing shelter to the homeless.  We should be loving and not judging anyone!
Even in the places that call themselves, God's house, judgement is going on.  When speaking against someone for the choices they make, judgement is taking place.  When you constantly ridicule a lifestyle that individuals choose to live, judgement is taking place.  When you turn away from one because of how they may look or speak, judgement is taking place.  Who am I to judge, for I am of flesh and bone.  I was born into a world that is surrounded by judgement.  Judgement is a sin that no one acknowledges as sin.  When you are judging someone, are you showing love?  When you are judging someone, are you being kind?  When you are judging someone, are you representing God?
Yet, even I judge. I judge a person's motives instead of showing God's grace.  I judge a person's actions instead of showing God's forgiveness.  I judge a person's character instead of showing God's love for the person they are.  I judge when I should be embracing!  I  judge when I should be giving!  I judge when I should be accepting!  I judge when I should be loving!
Each day my eyes are opened to my failures and to whom I am failing.  But, each day I am learning to pray harder, love stronger and not let a moment go by without lifting my failures up to God, asking Him to show me the way and teach me the lesson that I must learn this day.
I may not be able to quote the Bible word for word, but I can give love.  I can walk like Jesus, I can give like Jesus, I can love like Jesus.  When the moment comes and words are needed, God gives them to me.
September 6, 2015 I will be singing at my church in Leesburg.  I have struggled with what song that I will sing.  One day as I was talking to God about this, He gave me these words:

Only Jesus
Written by:  Darla E. Palombia
July 25, 2015

When I was a little girl
The monsters lived under my bed.
But as I grew older
The monsters moved inside my head.

Day after day the monsters
Played upon my mind.
Telling me I am not worthy
To have this life of mine.

But, Only Jesus!
Can heal this broken heart.
Only Jesus!
Can make the monsters stop!
For He died for me
So I could be set free.
(and) Only Jesus!
In me, He believes!

This pain that I am living
Wasn’t meant to last this long.
I must give up these burdens
To Him, who I belong.

For you know when trouble comes
It can be overcome.
Just crying out His Name
With Jesus the battle will be won.

For, Only Jesus!
Can mend this broken heart.
(and) Only Jesus!
Can make the troubles stop.
For He died for me
So I could be set free.
Only Jesus!
In me, He believes.

And, Only Jesus!
Can heal this troubled soul.
Only Jesus!
Once again can make me whole.
For He died for me
So I could be set free.
Only Jesus!
In me, He believes.

Yes, Only Jesus!
In me, He believes.
He believes
In me, He believes!!!

Never Compromise!

Monday July 27, 2015

It has been awhile since the last update and I keep promising myself to make time to write.  I love to write, but I let other things get in the way of my passion.  I allow myself to compromise and convince myself, "I will do it tomorrow".  Tomorrow comes and there it goes and before you know it, it is weeks later and you feel like something is tearing you up inside that needs to come out.  When that moment happens, I stop and listen to my soul.
Have you ever just stopped and listened?  Doing it in a yoga class is not the same as just truly stopping and just listen.  Silence fills the air and all things seem to just stop!  In that moment, you open your ears, close your heart and wait.  What am I waiting for? you ask.  God!  I know that He is in the stillness and I feel His presence, and then the words begin.  They come flowing out of me and need the release.  They need to be written, read and heard.  It is not fair to hold these words in, for God is giving them to me to express so that maybe, if not just myself, they reach someone who also needs to read and hear them.
There are several definitions of the word compromise.  When used as a noun it means an agreement.  For example; The two sides came to a compromise over whether the town statue should remain or come down.  When used as a verb it means to settle a dispute or concession.  Example; The two parties after much compromising came to an agreement over the town statue.  There is also a third meaning: To accept standards lower than acceptable.  Example; She compromised her values, for she believed there was no alternative.
This is the compromise that I am facing.  Approximately two months ago in May, I had met someone.  In June I wrote about how we were learning to get to know each other day by day.  We talked about Jesus and how important He is in our lives.  I, also, disclosed how church is very very important to me, especially the two that I sing in.  I revealed to him that I have become an Ordained Minister through the Universal Life Church and that I would be the officiant of my sister's upcoming wedding.  Becoming a minister has made me look deeper into myself. Words and things that I would not have thought nothing at all to say or do, I now find myself working harder not to say or do them.  However, I found myself compromising to keep him interested.  Lowering my standards to maintain building his interest.  He talked a very good game, spoke what I he believed I wanted to hear, but all along made me very uncomfortable and feeling that it was not right.  Ignoring what we spoke about when we first began to know each other and wanting to take it in a different direction.  Today, however, I did not compromise!  I once again told him that I was uncomfortable with the direction he was taking and instead of wanting to talk to me about it, his response was: "I will let you go now, talk to you later."  Hah!!!!  There will be no talking because I am done compromising my beliefs!  I am done compromising and lowering myself to standards that are not God's standards for my life.  Jesus did not die for me to become someone's HOE.  He died for me to save and purify my soul!!!
Now, do not misunderstand me, I enjoy sex, and that is a very important part to a strong binding and loving relationship, but I believe that there is a man out there that will understand my beliefs, respect my soul as I will his, and then the true and pure love will join us in a way that is electrifying and explosive. This man will not ask me to compromise where Jesus is leading me, but he will make me feel like a beautiful, vivacious woman, for he too will be being lead by Jesus and cherish his own self and soul too.  Maybe he did not realize that he was making me feel like scum, maybe he did not recognize the hurt in me when he continued to disregard how I was being made to feel.  Obviously he did not care to find out, either.  However, it was in the quiet of my office after the conversation this morning that I stopped, and I listened and God said; "not him."
This pain too shall pass.  One day, the one God intended will come into my life.  God knows that I am now truly available.  That I have released all that was holding me back keeping me from moving forward.   One thing that I do know, I am happy!  I have joy in my soul for every morning I wake up and Jesus is there.  Every day as the challenges come and go, projects get completed at work and I drag myself to workout...Jesus is there!  Making me stronger, healthier and teaching me patience.
There is no compromising when Jesus lives within you.  You must die to the old you and allow the new you to shine.  Lay down all your burdens and pick up the cross.  Jesus lives within me, He guides my way and lights the path, there will be no compromising anymore!
So on that note, I made pasta for dinner tonight!

Whole wheat pasta with homemade marina sauce and meatballs with pan-roasted balsamic glazed green beans.

A glass of North Gate Vineyard Rhatsiteli wine to compliment the meal and candlelight.

Of course no fine meal is complete without dessert, which just happen to be a stuffed baked banana.  What you ask is a stuffed baked banana?  It is one of the most decadent healthy deserts you can make and not feel guilty about enjoying it.  You take a banana (approximately 6 inch).  With the peel intact, slice down the center and gently pull slightly apart.  You then stuff the banana with whatever you like.  Tonight, I did a s'more style banana.  I had graham cracker crumbs (what you would use to make a pie crust or coating for chicken), chocolate chips, coconut and mini marshmallows with a few walnuts.  wrap the banana in foil and bake on 350 for about 20 minutes.  The cool thing is that you use small amounts of the ingredients, but get great big flavor.   When you open it up, it is an ooeey gooey mess, but oh so good!
Now it is time for a nice cup of Breakfast in Paris lavender tea and off to a good night's rest.

Remember, when you walk with Jesus, you NEVER walk alone!

Restore Me

Restore Me!

Time and time again it appears that I am going backwards instead of forwards.  People believe that I am losing ground instead of gaining.  But the exact opposite is true.  I do not go backwards because I am lonely or feeling lost, I go backwards to see how much I have gained.  God pulled me away to give me clarity and strength.  I wanted to stay away, no longer needing to go back.  But I heard Him tell me it was time.  You cannot gain strength by running away or trying to ignore what you believed was holding you back.  You have to face it head on, be strong and let Jesus pull you through.  When you clear your mind and begin to listen to Him who lives in your heart, amazing things begin to happen.  Jesus tells us to ask, and it shall be given.  Seek and it shall be found.  Knock and the doors will be opened.  Just trust HIM!!!  He knows what is best for my life. God has brought many new individuals into my life that I am so very grateful for.  What they may not realize, is that through them, God gave me clarity and my eyes were opened.  I finally accepted something that was in my heart that I needed to let go.  By letting go, I am now able to face the things that I had been running from.  I can now face the challenges that the world brings into my life.  I am now ready to let someone into my life that wants to truly be there.  No more settling for being the "fall-back" woman.  I deserve to be first choice!
Let me explain, two years ago a gentleman had entered my life and three weeks ago, I realized just how much I had truly cared for him.  This man, I would have followed, this man had captured a piece of my heart that I did not realize that he had.  However, this man never truly wanted to build a relationship with me, even though he said one time he did.  After not hearing from him for almost six months, he sent me a text.  Apparently during the months of non-communication, he moved to Kentucky.  I did not know this until out of the blue he sent me a text. After a week of talking, nothing. Then three weeks ago, he began texting me again.  Ironically, this man always seems to enter back into my life when someone else enters in.  What I had come to realize three weeks ago, is that if he would have asked me to go with him, I would have gone in a heart beat. That what others believed I had felt for another gentleman, was truly just a camouflage of what I felt for him.  However, I would not myself had realized this, had I not stepped away from certain things in my life.       God is truly patient and AWESOME.  For there is someone new, who has entered my life and we are in the building process to see where it will go.  I do have to say, that I am extremely cautious and taking things slowly.  Thoughts of him make me smile each day,  The more we talk and spend time together, the more I am comfortable with allowing my guard to come down.  One that I did not know that I had, until I recently discovered it.  We are allowing God to lead us.  Discovering were He intends to take us.

Jesus, Restore Me Once Again.
He may not be here walking the earth,
but He watches over me from above.
He does not judge me, He loves me just the way I am.
With all my faults, my negatives thoughts and the inner hurt of loss.
My burdens, He takes them over.
Life He said would not always be easy
But trusting in Him, eases life.
Worldly gain, is not what I seek
For worldly gain makes the soul weak.
I seek strength in His knowledge,
His wisdom and truth.
I seek what others say you cannot feel.
I seek after the One who is real.
His heart is pure, His love is true
Always carry me each day through
The trials that come, the joy that flows
What lies ahead of me, only He truly knows.
When I am lost and cannot find my way
He finds me and keeps me from going astray.
He turns me around, puts straight my path
Giving me guidance, that forever will last.
For when I am in need of restoration
Every time He restores me
With His precious gift of salvation.
So how can I not treat others
With kindness and love.
When from the moment I was born
He has blessed me from above.
When many felt the loss
On that day on Calvary.
For me, my soul was saved
For over evil, He gained Victory.
With His unconditional love
He is my forever friend.
My soul is forever yours
Jesus, restore me once again.

My goal is to begin writing in my blog more frequently.  To use it for practicing my new writing skills that I am learning in English 102.  Wish me luck as I write my Toulmin essay due Tuesday.  Another blessing that God bestowed because it was originally due today!  He does answer our prayers, sometimes we just do not have our eyes and ears opened to realize it.  Do not be afraid, Jesus is always with you.  Jesus is my Savior and my best friend, He is waiting for you to let Him in.  Just call upon His name, He will come.  Jesus!

My youngest son graduated on May 17, 2015 from West Virginia University.  I love this place and I love this town.  I cried that evening when I got home, realizing just how much it captured my heart.  WVU will always be in my soul.  Tradition is that when WVU wins, Take Me Home, Country Roads is played and everyone sings.  This tradition also applies at graduation.  I was honored to sing this song with my son's graduating class this past May.

A cherished memory: WVU & Baylor

Until next time,
Good night!

One week ago, my life took on a new direction.  The saying goes; "It takes 21 days (three weeks) to change/make a habit."  One week for me is done.  One week down, two to go.
It is amazing how God brings people into your life just at the right moments that you need their strength, courage and support to make the changes necessary for you to move forward.  To continue the dream that God has for you.  We humans have a way of getting in the way, when God is trying to make things happen.  I am no longer standing in the way, I got stalled but now I am moving.  Moving towards an unknown but one thing I do know, is God has great plans for me.
I have a blessed life.  I may not had have all the latest and greatest styles of clothing while growing up.  I may not have had the latest fad (no matter what it was), but what I did have where two parents that loved and cherished me.   They cherished all five of their children.  Four girls and one boy.  A steelworker and a housewife, life could not have been any more sweeter than growing up on Natchez street.  My father was a strong man, but there was a gentleness in him, that he did not always reveal.  My mother, her heart was bigger than the state of Texas.  Both my parents would give the shirts off their backs if someone needed it.  My mother and father may not have had a lot, but when a family member or neighbor was in need, they provided.  Two beautiful hearts brought together by chance.  A love that grew stronger as the years past.
I remember a time, when I was a teen, my mother went away with the PTA.  This was unique to say the least account my mother rarely went away without my dad.  My dad on the other hand had his time away during hunting season, every year.  It was expected for dad to go off and hunt big game.   My dad seemed down and I offered to make him tea or something to eat and he kindly said no.  He walked to the dining room window and stared out and I asked; "Daddy whats wrong?"  He said:  "I just really miss your mother."  I could only smile and hoped that someday in my life, I would have a true love as theirs.  Someone who would miss me, while I was a way for a weekend. I remember my mom, walking my dad to the door, handing him his lunch giving him a kiss and saying "see you after work."  She never doubted that he would not come home.
I remember, when my dad was very sick and in his final weeks (although we did not realize this at the time).  He was asked by his physical therapist, "Samuel what is special about today", his reply: "My wedding anniversary."  She then asked him: "What is the greatest thing you ever did?"  My father's soft reply was: "Marrying my wife."  True and pure love is what my parents shared.
After my dad passed away, my mother a young widow of 54, never once looked or considered dating another man.  She always told me that she had the love of her life and she was happy just to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  I, know that God allowed my dad to come to my mom when she needed him.  She would tell me, "Your dad visited me last night."  I would ask what he had to say, she replied, "nothing."  He just came to comfort her.  What my siblings do not know and may not understand, is that my dad had been coming to mother every night prior to her passing.  I would talk with her and she would tell me how he was visiting her every night.  But she never would tell me why. I know now, he was preparing her.
Do I believe that my mother wanted to leave us when she did?  No!  I believe my mother would have lived another forty years if it was meant for her to.  But my mother waited 20 years to be reunited with the love of her life, I know in my heart, she was ready.  Her final words as she was collapsing from a brain stem hemorrhage where: "Where's Junior?"  Can you imagine, here is Jesus welcoming you home and she asks, "Where is Junior?"  If you are wondering folks, who Junior is, he was my dad.  Samuel Joseph Palombia, Jr.  My mother always called him Junior.  I always said that the sprite, feisty little woman, that I knew as mom, would be the one to ask Jesus where her husband was.
But back to the changes taking place in my life.  You know how you can become attached to someone or something, it really is not good for you, but you just have trouble letting go.  Well, that is where I was.  God brought into my life, two new workout mates.  Without these two women, I would more than likely still be stalled.  I have come to a full understanding, just were I was before they came into my life.  My best friend of 25 years was advising me, my sisters were telling me, my other best friend of eight years was drilling at me, but did I listen.  Of course not! Well, maybe on the surface, but deep down, my heart was hearing, it was just not ready to let go. It was holding onto hope, when it knew it was time. I needed these new friends to be fresh eyes and hearts for me, so that I could finally....let go.   To renew what God began in November.  To help me to refocus on my goals and what is truly God's dream for me.  To put my focus back on Jesus!  He was telling me:
"Darla, you deserve to have a true and pure love."
"Be patient,"  is what God has been whispering to me.  I hear Him.  "Be still.  Look at what I have created. He says. "I have a dream for you,"  God says.  "Just be patient!  Watch and you will see, what I am doing for you."
The focus is back in place, I am once again heading in the right direction.  When I stand aside and let God have control, everything falls into place.

Even the dandelion that everyone thinks of as a pesky weed, is a beautiful flower in God's sight.

The purity of a lily, dancing in the sun.  Lets everyone know, Spring has begun.

Yellow tulips dance and sway, lets everyone know there is joy in today.

Beauty is pink that the bees all love.  Buzzing a tune from heaven above.

Billowing white clouds, gently floating by.  Hanging by angel's wings, high up in the sky.

God's love is all around, just stop and you will see

His light will always guide you, to were you are meant to be.

Trust in God and let Jesus lead the way.
He is always the right direction.

God Bless and keep you until I write again.

God, please heal the city of Baltimore. Amen!!!

New Beginnings

New Beginnings.

There comes moments in your life when you realize that it is time for a new chapter to begin.  That you must let go of what you had hoped for and turn to what God is bringing to you.  I am at that moment once again in my life.  This morning my life finally completed the turn that had begun several months ago. I find myself finally accepting that it is not heart healthy to keep waiting for something to happen, when obviously it never will.  That I must sever ties to places and people that I have come to love and hold in my heart, but that this is the only way so that my life can move forward.
Invincible is what I am, no longer the scared little girl that I once was. Broken, but not destroyed for God picked up the pieces and put them back together.  Leaving the little cracks so that His love could pour out from me.  He has made me INVINCIBLE.  No longer to hide myself from the world. He has guided me to those that I needed in my life at moments to build me and show me my strength.  That when I am saying I cannot, I hear YES, YOU CAN!!  But I no longer hear it from people, I hear it coming from my heart, from Him, who created me.  I am determined, no longer will I be used or considered a fall back plan, never again will I be second best or a temporary replacement.  I AM  SO MUCH MORE!    Courage to face each new day with His love and strength to guide me.  To dream beyond my imagination, for there is so much He wants me to do. My dreams are no longer mine, but His!   He has created someone out there to share my world, I just had to be ready, and I now am.
I sit here listening to the song No One is Alone, from the movie Into the Woods.  No one is alone, Jesus is always with us.  When we believe there is no one, there is.  It may come from a smile from a stranger just at the right moment, or a text from out of the blue or a special package delivered.  I am not alone, I have many who are on my side, that believe in me and have been helping me by providing me strength to complete the turn of the page.  To start the new chapter of my life journey.  Am I sadden, yes, but there was such joy in my heart when I finally accepted with full acknowledgement that God was saying NOW!  So, now it is!

Pure love was given to me,
when Jesus died upon the tree.
   Three days later,
    my life then changed,
when He rose up from the grave.

Easter 2014
A chapter of my life closed.
Many things He did reveal
As the days past.
Just like the other chapters
This one too, was not meant to last.

Easter 2015
A new chapter is beginning
As I write these words.
My journey is once again changing
As He gives me the courage to move forward.

Joy and excitement
Fill my heart.
As my life once again
Begins a new start.

I am so truly grateful for the new individuals that God has brought into my life.  Some are now walking with me in my journey, some were to only guide me, and then there were those that just touched me briefly, but what an impact they made.  I am so thankful to God for those that have been in my life for so many years and never gave up on me.  That supported and saw me through some of the toughest times that I faced.  That to this day, they are behind me.
There is such joy in my journey, that even in the pain there is a lesson for me to learn and in the end, brings joy.
As Lily and I walked this morning here is some of the beauty of God that we did see:

Freedom

Purity
Love
Grace

Mercy

I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the beauty of God's world that is all around us.  That you take the time to be still and listen.  He will talk to you and guide you.  Let His dreams be yours and watch your life soar to places you never thought you could do.  As the birds trust the wind to lift them as they soar, I will trust Jesus to keep me lifted forever more.

Have a Blessed & Wonderful Day!
